Judgment Belongs to the One Who Judges

My conversation with Kim Meninger on The Impostor Syndrome Files https://www.kimmeninger.com/rewriting-the-stories-that-hold-us-back
“I don’t deserve this job.”“My colleagues are better than me.”“If they find out, they’ll let me go.”
You know that voice. Maybe you heard it this morning.
Most of the people I work with are smart. Accomplished. They have the title, the track record, the proof.
And yet.
The voice doesn’t care about proof.
Kim invited me to talk about where that voice comes from, and what happens when you turn it down long enough to hear something else.
I shared my own story too. For years, people around me said: “You should start your own business.” I always said no. I grew up with a father whose income went up and down. In good years, yes, you can have the shoes. In bad years, no shoes. I wanted to know what shoes I could buy. So I chose security.
Then a restructuring ended my corporate career. Not my choice. The golden cage was gone.
So I looked again at what people had seen in me. A reflection is not a verdict. It might hold some truth. It’s up to you to decide. This time, I said yes.
What we talked about:
What hypno coaching is: coaching in a focused state where the inner critic gets quieter
Why it’s nothing like the stage hypnosis you see on TV
The beliefs that feed impostor syndrome, like “others are better” and “people will judge me”
The sound console: why no human being is simply “better” than another
Why your brain makes no difference between what you imagine and what you live
The three ways change happens: all at once, after the fact, or step by step
Why the people around you may pull you back to the old you
Here is the shift I keep coming back to.
When someone judges you, it tells you how they see the world.
Not who you are.
If you’ve ever said no to a role because of a presentation, or felt like you got the job by mistake, this one is for you. Give it a listen. And if something lands, send me a little hello.
Hypnotiquement vôtre,Janylène xo
